Sipho van der Putten -  Chief Data Scientist at ABSA

Sipho is the Chief Data Scientist at Absa. Due to his passion around technology and science Sipho decided to study for a career in Computer Science and Physics. He thrives on applying scientific tools and methodologies to practical challenges. This then lead him to a career in management consulting and the later towards Advanced Analytics and Data Science.Besides data, algorithms and coding he is passionate about the people side of DS and AI.

Manoj Chiba - Data Scientist and Senior Principal Consultant at Dipuo

Manoj Chiba is a management professional with over 10 years of senior management experience.He is currently the principal consultant and data analyst specialist for ATBM Advisory.His passion is driving the triple bottom line through evidence-based research and some of the work includes price-setting strategies, market share analysis and strategic input. He also has a strong passion for education at the grass-roots level and assisting in solving youth unemployment in South Africa. Manoj lectures MBA students at GIBS on analytical tools and techniques and supervises MBA projects. He is currently studying towards his DBA (GIBS).

John Kogel - Co-Founder and Director at Vantage Data  

John co-founded Vantage Data in June 2015 to offer analytics as a service to industries including retail, FMCG and manufacturing. Prior to Vantage, John spent 10 years in the finance industry working for both UBS and Citadel. His past work experience has focused on leveraging data analytics to enhance portfolio returns while minimizing risk, including developing his own suite of analytics which generated outsized returns for his investment strategy. John has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT

John Mukomberanwa - Data Science Central /Senior Manager, CIB at Standard Bank

John holds a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Statistics and Masters of Science in Statistics at the University of Witwatersrand. He currently holds the position of Senior Manager: Data Science – Corporate and Investment Banking. He has a keen interest in the fields of data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. John’s greatest strength lies in abstract thinking with a unique ability to identify high valued opportunities to drive data science within business.
